Today we went to IKEA to get a clothing rack to hang up the exploded closet's RLOS costumes (we woke up one morning this week and found that the shelf/rod had pulled out of the wall and everything was all over the floor). It wasn't very busy, which was good, though there were a lot of kids proportionate to the number of people. I guess it's a kid-friendly store? We ended up finding what we wanted fairly easily, which is nice since sometimes it's a giant maze.
Then we took them to Patrick's parents house because the racks (one for us, one for them) are going into their new storage unit they're renting while they declutter their house to put it on the market, as they've decided to move. They're not going far, but the subdivision they're moving into is a bit nicer and the house has a better floor plan - most of the bedrooms on the first floor - which means whenever Patrick's grandparents come to stay, his parents don't have to move to the guest room upstairs because his grandmother can't use stairs. Patrick helped his dad move some boxes around while I sat and got my magnesium/fluids infused.
We went to visit my parents too and had a game night. We played bananagrams and duck duck go and I got fed steak and onion potatoes and really good pineapple and canteloupe and strawberry yogurt pie and it was fun to be able to go somewhere other than home or the hospital for more than just a little bit. Patrick's parents were going to join us, but they got distracted by yardwork and decided to be party poopers.
Yes, IKEA is a very kid friendly store. If the kids fit the height range, you get an hour of free baby sitting, they have lots of kid friendly food choices at the cafe - including baby food, all the furniture is climbable and the kid furniture section has all the toys out to play with, plus there is even a designated corner for quiet private breastfeeding. I have been known to go there to hang out on rainy days with no intention of buying anything. We love IKEA in this house.
ReplyDeleteI love IKEA! I think it's probably dangerous for me that my house in NC is about 15 minutes from IKEA.
